Our MBA Maritime Operations programme is designed to cater to the needs of working professionals seeking to advance their careers in the maritime industry. With a focus on flexibility and accessibility, this 12-month fully distance learning programme begins with ‘taught’ e-learning chapters covering advanced techniques in research methods, project management, leadership, and statistics.
The e-learning course materials for these lectures are delivered through MLA’s Total Learning Package (TLP), which can be downloaded to computers. One of the distinguishing features of this programme is the MBA research project which provides an exciting opportunity for students to undertake a specific 60 credit dissertation module, combining practical and academic research work in which they demonstrate their knowledge, understanding, skills and abilities appropriate to the award of the MBA degree.
Students will benefit from full tutor support throughout their academic journey. The flexible delivery allows students to study at their own pace, meaning that it may be possible to submit within a shorter or longer timeframe.
The programme offers one core MBA award with the option of subject specialism pathways, resulting in the following pathway titles being available:
Typically, eligible candidates will have one of the following:

There are multiple pathways onto the programme, and our Admissions Team is here to help. If you’re unsure about your eligibility, get in touch – we’ll be happy to discuss your experience and explore the best route for you.
Whilst we deliver our programmes from a distance, that doesn’t mean we expect you to achieve everything without a friendly voice to guide you. Our expert team of academics are on hand to support you throughout your studies, whenever you need them the most.
Your MLA College Student Experience team, Abigail White and Charlie Vosper, are the first point of contact for enrolled students who are in need of pastoral support, including requests under the Extenuating Circumstances policy for matters related to their academic studies. Abigail and Charlie are also responsible for monitoring student engagement and academic progression and will contact students directly to offer assistance should they feel that intervention is needed.
