Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), the BBA in Visual Studies program takes a cross-disciplinary approach to learning the fundamental areas of visual communication.

LIM’s Visual Studies program curriculum combines liberal arts and core business courses with instruction in fundamental areas of visual media including digital design, visual styling, creative direction, digital photography, and more.

• Color and Design
• Creative Direction and Styling in Visual Presentation
• Digital Photography and Imaging
• 3D Digital Design

Students can also gain hands-on experience by taking the Student-Run Concept Shop course, where they assume the role of creative directors planning a visual display for real LIM products in an immersive retail environment.

Regardless of major, undergraduate degree-seeking students at LIM can select any one of more than 20 minors to complement their major course of study.

As a Visual Studies major, you will complete three required internships, applying the skills you learn in the classroom and studio to workplace settings. This allows you to build an impressive portfolio and make professional connections to help launch your career.

Students in the Visual Studies bachelor’s degree program acquire creative, technical, and visual skills in both physical and digital spaces and develop the ability to lead and be part of creative teams within the fashion and lifestyle industry. 

Graduates enter the job market with a résumé and a portfolio that have already been vetted by professionals and can work in areas such as:

• Visual Merchandising and Display

Plus, LIM’s longstanding ties to the fashion and lifestyle industry open the door for internships and other real-world learning opportunities, including collaborative industry projects and competitions.

With close proximity to an array of fashion business resources in New York City, LIM students join a network of leading professionals and successful alumni, enhancing their academic experience and allowing them to build their resumes and portfolios.

Visual Studies majors can also participate in study abroad trips and various student organizations, honing their skills and making meaningful contributions to the campus community. This may include being involved in The Lexington Line student magazine, the annual LIM Fashion Show, and more.

To be considered for admission, the following must be submitted:

1. The completed Application for Admission
2. Official transcript from most recent high school attended (high school diploma or equivalent required upon enrollment)
3. Students may be evaluated for admission using an unofficial transcript, if an official transcript is not available at the time of decision. (See Proof of High School Graduation Policies)
4. Official transcript from all colleges attended (transfer students only)

International students are required to submit all application materials and required documents in English. International students are also required to provide evidence of English proficiency, through one of the following ways:

• Diagnostic exam of English proficiency (such as TOEFL)*
• Prior academic coursework
• Aptitude exam with a required English language section (such as the SAT)
• English language learning certificate from an LIM College partner language school
• English is a native language of the student’s country of origin.
